Sketch Sprints

  • Sketch Sprints was launched in Japan in 2020. It is a series of free online sessions where people - of any cultural background and artistic skill level -  can connect and learn from each other by sketching together..

This online social hour's concept involves two quick sketches and one long sketch completed within an hour. Each week, participants aim their device (e.g., computer, phone, or tablet) at a still life they have prepared. At the end of each session, a group photo is taken and shared on a mutual SMS group, which also serves to organise volunteers for setting up still lifes. These usually intimate sessions foster meaningful conversations and connections, which become the primary reason for gathering.
